Funding of £13,000 from Hillingdon Community Trust enabled Dr Tripletts C of E School to improve and develop a nursery garden to provide an all weather learning environment. The nursery garden now has an exciting and safe soft play area that complies with all of the relevant safety features needed for young children.

“With the re-landscaping we have a larger play area and it is now a welcoming environment with a roadway around the climbing frame and two safe paths leading to it.”

Brian Paul, Dr Tripletts’ Headteacher

In May 2012 HCT made a grant of £50,000 over 3 years to Hillingdon Mind for its ‘Diversity in Mind’ project. This project works with people from the Somali, Tamil, Afghani and Nepalese communities to raise understanding of mental health issues. In its first year it has carried out training for groups from each of those communities in mental health awareness to equip those individuals with skills to recognise members of their community who may need help and understanding and to access services. The training also covers personal mental health issues.

A grant of £21,000 over 3 years will enable the introduction of basic cricket coaching to schools in the south of the Borough.

Over 400 children in the Trust area received cricket coaching in the first year of the project.

Hillingdon Community Trust approved a grant of £2,000 to St Matthew’s Church for Talk Time- a drop-in group for people whose first language is not English, to promote speaking, listening and social skills. The aim of the project was to contribute to community cohesion by providing a place where people of different nationalities and backgrounds living in the Yiewsley and West Drayton area can come together to practice their spoken English and to make friends.
