Age Concern Time Travellers
A grant from Hillingdon Community Trust of £6,064 in 2007 to Age Concern enabled the Time Travellers project to continue. The project aims to link groups of old and young together in a mutally beneficial and enjoyable way.
Time Travellers operates in 16 schools throughout the London Borough of Hillingdon, with HCT’s grant funding the project in the southern six wards. The scheme benefits both generations and provides an invaluable service to the education system. Between 30 and 35 volunteers assisted in schools during 2007 benefiting over 350 children and young people. The volunteers help students with reading, numeracy, arts, crafts physical education and cooking.
This project brings benefits to the volunteers and to school children helping them develop relationships with older people and learning to respect and understand them.
